There's been a bit of talk and debate this past week or so over a multimedia presentation put together by renowned photojournalist Ed Kashi, and Mediastorm. The presentation can be viewed here on MSNBC (you have to watch a commercial first before it loads and plays).
The presentation is a collection of images taken by Ed Kashi in Kurdistan about 18 months ago, whilst on assignment for National Geographic, and now re-edited into an 11 minute take, put to sound. I enjoyed it although many in the photographic community have seen the new "flipbook" style as nothing new. But as Kashi writes in his blog he isn't trying to claim it is new, he's just showing his work in a manner which is easier to do now with the technology we have and use, and hopefully to get those images out to a wider audience.
I enjoyed the presentation and admire the way in which Kashi works, trying to keep in this game, and to keep his work in front of the public, using whatever means possible. Some (occasionally heated) debate about the presentation can be seen here on Lightstalkers website, and there is some more info about it on PDN.
And here are some field notes from Ed Kashi on his National Geographic assignment, also links to the pics.
